Player Behaviour

Now I’ll start off by saying I don’t like Chelsea very much. Having said that, they were on the receiving end of a number of poor refereeing decisions in last night’s Champions League semi-final. However, does that excuse the behaviour of their players at the final whistle?
For those that aren’t aware of what happened, check out what The Guardian had to say on the matter.
I have long held the opinion that football needs to hold its players accountable for the way they behave both on and off the pitch. This isn’t the first time that Chelsea’s players have behaved in this manner, and I doubt it will be the last. Yes, football is a passionate game, but that shouldn’t be used to excuse what we saw last night. Rugby as just as passionate but the respect shown to referees is there for all to see - as indeed is the respect the referees show the players.
In rugby, only the captain is allowed to approach the referee and ask about decisions - and the referee will explain things. Surely that has got to be better than the mob approach we see at football games.
Note the reaction of the Man Utd players to Darren Fletcher’s red card on Tuesday night. That was a clear injustice and one UEFA initially refused to do anything about, although it now appears an appear may be allowed after all.
UPDATE: Drogba has apologised saying he overacted. You don’t say!
